ReturnTable

You all came back, huh?

The Table Sequence, also called The Return Intro, is the New Game+ intro sequence to Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. The screen is noticeably darker compared to other scenes, featuring Richard speaking to the playable characters on why they returned to the game if they know they are going to inevitably die. The table supports a projection unit, an empty film reel case, and an empty ash tray next to Richard. Several characters respond differently to Richard, and others including Beard and Richter share their recollections of Richard before being replaced by their corpses that accurately depict how they were killed in the events of the story:

  • Richard is seated at the head of the table, facing the back of the projection unit and is dressed in Jacket's clothes. He is seated in front of two wilted plants.
  • Masked Half
    • Mark sits gripping the arm rest with his right hand and rests his left arm on the back of his chair. He is diagonally across from the Henchman and is next to Richard. Between them is an open book with blank pages on the floor.
    • Ash is seated between Mark and Tony and is clutching an Uzi, resting it sideways on the table and pointing it at The Son.
    • Alex is the only member in the room standing, resting her left hand on the back of Ash's chair. She faces the money-littered gap between the Henchman and The Son.
    • Tony is seated between Ash and Corey, resting his right arm on his leg and his left arm on the arm rest. He faces the empty film case and the gap filled with stripper clothes between Evan and the Son.
    • Corey is seated between Tony and Richter. She is reclining in her chair, with her left foot resting on the table by the projection unit.
    • Richter is seated between Corey and Martin Brown. He is scooted up to the table with his hands in his lap. He is facing both the projection unit and Jake.
    • Martin Brown is seated away from the table and gripping both arm rests (like he is in an electric chair). He sits a good distance away from Richter and Beard in between them, and is opposite from Manny Pardo. By his chair on the floor is a shattered piece of glass, possibly a mirror.
  • (Mostly) Unmasked Half
    • The Henchman is seated close to Richard (though he is not as close as Mark is). He is scooted up to the table and is resting his hands on the surface. He is separated from the Son by several bills on the floor. He blocks the Son's view of Richard.
    • The Son is separated from the Henchman by the money to the left and from Evan on the right with an unhooked bra on the ground. He is scooted far back from the table and is fully oriented towards Richard while having the Uzi trained on him by Ash. The Henchman blocks his line of sight towards Richard.
    • Evan is backed away from the table, writing on a notepad. He is seated between the Son and Jake. He sits directly across from Tony, Corey, and the empty projector reel case.
    • Jake is the only one wearing a mask on the "unmasked" side of the table, being seated between Evan and Manny Pardo. He sits opposite of the projection unit and across from Richter.
    • Manny Pardo is gripping the edge of the table with his right hand, and is seated between some distance away between Jake and Beard. He is opposite from Martin Brown.
  • Beard is seated at the end of the table opposite of Richard, with the projector unit pointed directly at his face. Behind him on either side of the room are numerous storage boxes.

Dialogue[]

Richard: "You all came back, huh? Why? You all know how this ends, don't you?"

Jake: "What the hell are you blabbing about? Who are you people? Why am I here?"

Richard: "[...] You're not really here, are you?"

[Jake then appears to have been shot in the head.]

Martin Brown: "[...] Is this another dream?"

Richard: "It's all a dream, isn't it? Enjoy it while you can. Soon, you will all have to wake up."

[Martin then appears to have been shot repeatedly.]

Tony: "I think I've heard enough. [...] Hey guys, let's get out of here."

Richard: "There's only one way out of this, unfortunately."

[Mark appears to have a fatal head injury, and Tony, Corey, Alex, and Ash all have gunshot wounds.]

The Son: "Why have you taken us here?

Richard: "To tell you that it's all pointless. [...] You're all heading the wrong way. At best, you'll end up in the cemetery."

The Son: "So what? I'm not afraid of dying."

[The Henchman then appears to have had his head smashed in.]

Richard: "You don't care what happens to your friends either, do you? Keep on following in your father's footsteps, I've told you where they lead."

[The Son then appears to have numerous bones broken from falling.]

Richter: "[...] Look, I'm sorry for..."

Richard: "I appreciate it, but... I'm not really who you think I am. Remorse is not going to get you anywhere, I'm afraid.

[Richter turns into a skeleton from the atomic blast.]

Manny Pardo: "You think you know everything, huh?"

Richard: "You, I don't get. Why is it you do the things you do?"

Manny Pardo: "You're just gonna sit there and judge us, are you?"

Richard: "Is that what you think? You don't know who I am, do you? Fine, have it your way."

[Like Richter, Pardo turns into a skeleton from the atomic blast.]

Evan Wright: "Just who are you then?"

Richard: "I'm the opposite of why you are writing your book. I'm something you will never understand."

[Evan then turns into a skeleton from the atomic blast.]

Beard: "[...]"

Richard: "Looks like it's just you and me left now. [...]"

Beard: "We've met before, haven't we?"

Richard: "Yes, we have. I'm glad you remember. I know you didn't ask for any of this... I wish we could have met again under different circumstances. [...]

Beard: "Me too."

[Beard turns into a skeleton from the atomic blast. Richard is the last one in the room.]

Richard: [...]

[Richard then starts a projector tape with the light shining over Beard's corpse, starting the events of Hotline Miami 2 again.]

Trivia[]

  • The Henchman has an unused talking sprite for this sequence, indicating that he had dialogue during this sequence at one point.
  • Corey's leg resting on the table is a mirror and recolor of Jacket's sunbathing sprite in Stronghold and Richter's couch sitting sprite in Apocalypse.
  • Corey's corpse in this sequence is more consistent with the "explosive" impact from being shot by The Son in Apocalypse than her corpse in Death Wish, as her entrails are bursting through her jacket compared to the single gunshot wound in Death Wish.
    • The Swans' corpses are more consistent in seeming to have have been shot rather than eviscerated.
  • Alex is the only member in the room standing.
  • Mark is closest character to Richard.
  • The Son, Pardo, and Beard are the only people in the room that have multiple lines of dialogue with Richard.
  • The Son and Tony "speak for" the characters from the factions they're a part of, as the Henchman and the rest of the Fans are silent.
  • Alex, Ash, Mark, and Martin Brown all lose their masks when killed. Corey, Tony, Jake, and Richter continue wearing them.
  • Martin Brown's corpse is in a different position than his one in Final Cut, as he is still "seated" in his tipped over chair. He's the only seated character that falls over this way.
  • There is a glitch where the Henchman survives the sequence if the player holds RMB to skip the dialogue.
  • The Henchman dies in a different position compared to his actual corpse. He is face down on the table, when he was actually beaten to death while laying on his back.
  • Jake's corpse still wears his cobra mask in the same manner as his corpse in Hot & Heavy that was discovered by Jacket.
    • The outro to Withdrawal shows his corpse as maskless. However, the successful outro of Withdrawal involves Jake talking to a van-driving Manager with an unmasked facial sprite, while he wears his mask in-game.
  • Richter seems to be apologizing for killing the Girlfriend, though it is also possible that he is also apologizing for his involvement with 50 Blessings and his overall actions. He seems to mistakenly believe that Jacket and Richard are the same person.
  • H.M. Hammarin, Jacket, and Biker are the only playable characters in the series that are absent from this sequence. They are also the only playable characters without official Hotline Miami 2 levels.
