Phantom, also known as Ventriloquist, is a minor character and an antagonist in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. He is a strange entity that confronts Manny Pardo in a nightmare he has.
Caught Intro[]
Phantom appears in Pardo's nightmare, who keeps hold of the revolver Pardo leaves behind at one of the "Miami Mutilator's" crime scenes. Pardo insists on knowing what Phantom is doing at the crime scene, to which he responds "Well, you know what they say...Murderers always return to the scene of the crime."
Pardo then asks who Phantom is, who responds with that he could think of him as his son and that he was created by Pardo. The shaken Detective rudely asks for his gun back. Phantom offers Pardo a "hug" and begins to strangle him. After a short struggle, the detective retaliates by pushing him over. Phantom's head then smashes into pieces after hitting the floor, apparently killing him.
Appearance[]
Phantom's head appears to be that of a typical ventriloquists dummy with green eyes, brown hair and blushed cheeks and wears a black jacket, a white shirt with a blue tie and black trousers. Despite clearly being a ventriloquists dummy, he appears to be as big as the average size of an adult upon closer observation of his knocked over sprite, as well as being able to strangle Pardo with relative ease. It is worth noting that Phantom bears some similarities to Manny Pardo himself, sharing his green eyes and choice of clothing.
Trivia[]
- Phantom's head is fake with a superficially made-up appearance, making it analogous to both the masks and Biker's helmet. It is probably made of porcelain like a lot of old dolls and ventriloquist dummies are.
- As Phantom stands up from his seat to "hug" Pardo, he stretches his arms out in his direction, revealing his jacket's long sleeves. When Pardo pushes Phantom on the ground however, he appears to be wearing a short-sleeved jacket.
- Phantom somewhat resembles the real serial killer Manuel 'Manny' Pardo, the most notable shared traits being large and very intense eyes and a close-cropped/bald hairstyle.
