Oscar is a mask obtainable in Hotline Miami. The mask is of a mole and when worn makes all levels played with it into a type of darkness. The player's view gets filtered through a dark red filter that pulses from red to black. This mask only serves to give the player a greater challenge. The dark filter does not affect the enemies.
Obtaining[]
This mask may be obtained by achieving a high score in chapter 14.
Functionality[]
The effect of this mask is sometimes interrupted (screen gets normal) when either a bossfight sequence or character's dialogue start. Some levels have exact spots or occasions where mask stops working:
- The Metro: Screen filter wears off until the end of the level as soon as you leave the train station to drop off a briefcase in the dumpster;
- Decadence: Mask's effect stops when you get back on the first floor to fight The Producer, the effect wears off until the end of a level;
- Full House: Screen filter stops working in the canalisation where you meet dying Jones; when you return to the ground, screen gets filtered again;
- Clean Hit: The only moment in the level where the filter briefly wears off is when you see janitor's face in the dialoge box as you walk along the wall to the balcony;
- Neighbors: As soon as you clean up the last floor of the building, mask's effect will dissapear together with the start of the phone ringing and won't come back until you return to the previous floor; next place in the level where the screen gets normal (until you leave it) is the 2nd floor of the Phone hom building, where you fight Biker;
- Deadline: Screen unfilters until the end of the level just when a van rams the building's front entrance;
- Assault: Filtering stops briefly at the moments of Richter or Police chief talking;
- Vengeance: Filtering stops briefly at the moment of The club manager talking;
- Showdown: Mask's effect completely wears off after you walk up the stairs;
- Highball: Filtering stops briefly at the moment of Wiley and Brandon talking.
