The Nail Gun is a firearm in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number that is exclusive to Jake when wearing the Irvin mask.
Statistics[]
The Nailgun effectively functions as an alternative to the Silenced Pistol that Jake with the Irvin mask can start with (but can also be placed for him in the Level Editor), like the Silenced Pistol the Nailgun is silent, but has 20 shots instead of 12. Additionally it has the special ability of going over destroyable props such as meth labs, computer monitors, and arcades making it somewhat useful for both of Jake's levels. However despite these benefits, the Nailgun has the worst accuracy of all 'guns', requires either 1 or 2 shots to kill standard Mobsters with at least 6 shots required to kill a Thug, and fires even slower than the Shotgun for characters with average shotgun firing speed (such as Corey and Richter) Furthermore accuracy is much worse when the attack button is held down; an effect not present in all other guns. As such the Nailgun is the weakest 'gun' in the game and is better discarded for a proper gun like the Kalashnikov, Shotgun or Silenced Pistol.
Trivia[]
- In real life, it is impossible to fire a nail gun the way it is depicted in game, as real nail guns usually have a safety on the barrel that is deactivated by pressure (this usually involves pushing the barrel against the target), meaning it would have to be either used as a melee weapon or have the safety manually deactivated by pulling it back with the off hand.
- Even if the safety was somehow deactivated, the nails would make rather ineffective projectiles due to their low velocity and tendency to tumble midair, meaning they would most likely just bounce off harmlessly rather than cause a lethal wound.
