The Machete is an unlockable melee weapon in Hotline Miami and a recurring weapon in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.
Hotline Miami[]
It attacks very fast, and has a unique execution where Jacket chops at an enemy three times until its head falls off. Unlike the knife, it cannot kill enemies outright by throwing it at them.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number[]
It makes a reappearance in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, albeit with a slower attacking speed.
The machete can be used by Manny Pardo and The Son, both sharing different executions when using the machete. Manny Pardo's machete execution has him slit the enemy's throat similarly to the butterfly knife or the regular knife, whilst The Son will hack off the enemy's head in three chops, similar to Jacket's machete execution in the first game, but at a slower pace.
The machete is commonly wielded by Colombians.
Trivia[]
- The Machete execution used by Jacket and The Son is mostly likely another reference to Manhunt (One of Dennis Wedin's favourite games) as all Machete executions in Manhunt show James Earl Cash decapitating an enemy hunter in three hacks like the former Hotline characters.
