Overview[]
The MP5 is a weapon appearing in Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, It is a submachine gun based off of the H&K MP5.
Hotline Miami[]
The MP5 is an unlockable weapon, meaning it may randomly spawn once unlocked; this is the 13th weapon you receive. The MP5 will always spawn on the second floor in Clean Hit, it is located on a balcony close to where you end up by climbing through the window. It is also seen being dual-wielded by the Police Chief in Assault and by The Father in Showdown. The MP5 is not affected by the Rami Mask perk. This weapon is required for the Guns For Show and I Got New Friends achievements.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number[]
The MP5 makes a return in Wrong Number, where it is usable in its dual-wielded form by Mark and The Son (using his Bloodline technique). By holding the Throw Weapon button, those characters can perform a special ability where they point the MP5s to their sides instead of straight ahead. This weapon also appears in the Hawaiian Conflict, being used by Soviet Heavies and Jacket, although it is unusable by The Soldier. This weapon is required for the A BOX FULL OF SHARP OBJECTS achievement.

Trivia[]
- Strangely, the MP5 is seen on the hands of the Soviet Heavies in Hotline Miami 2, despite it being a West German firearm with ammunition not commonly available in the Soviet Union.
- A more appropriate weapon for this enemy would be the Skorpion, which appeared previously in Hotline Miami.
- Jake was originally going to be able to use the MP5 (most likely replaced by the Nailgun, or was going to be used under another mask if the Player took the briefcase). It is possible to make him use it by abusing a bug in the Level Editor to give him the MP5.
