Overview[]
The Cleaver is a weapon in Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. It is one of the only two weapons that can be used by Biker, the other one being the Throwing Knives. It is a meat cleaver traditionally used to slice through thick meat and bones. Unlike other melee weapons, this weapon has a special property that allows it to kill Thugs.
Hotline Miami[]
The Cleaver first appears being used by Biker in Neighbors, during the Phone Hom section of the level. He uses the weapon to try and kill Jacket by lunging at him every few seconds, After two lunges, he throws it at Jacket as an alternative attack. If he misses, he will have to go retrieve it. While he is retrieving the Cleaver, the Player is free to approach and strike him.
The weapon later appears in Part 5: Answers, being the weapon primarily used by the Player as they are playing as Biker during the whole section. The fight featured in Prank Call is the same one shown in Neighbors, however, this time Biker manages to kill Jacket with a swift slash across his stomach, stomping his head open right after. In the next chapter, Resolution, Biker has the option to kill the Janitors with the Cleaver. This is one of the only weapons to have two unique executions tied to it.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number[]
In this game, the Cleaver returns in the Level Editor, practically unchanged from the first game except for the fact that it now has unique animations for killing Thugs. It is still a Biker exclusive weapon.
