Aubrey is a mask unlockable in Hotline Miami and the default mask for Martin Brown in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. The mask is of a pig, and when worn by Jacket, it turns all near non-key melee weapons into guns. When worn by Martin Brown, the mask has no effect.
In Hotline Miami 2's Level Editor, Jacket begins a level with a double barrel shotgun when wearing this mask, as random weapon spawns aren't part of Hotline Miami 2.
Obtaining[]
This mask may be obtained by achieving a high score in Chapter 2, Overdose
Notes[]
- Jacket wears the mask in Hotline Miami's tutorial, making it the first mask to appear in the series.
- The player unlocks this mask immediately before reaching Decadence and rescuing Girlfriend while being recorded by the Producer's security cameras. This is the basis for the "Pig Butcher" in Midnight Animal and hints Jacket canonically wore the Aubrey Mask during Decadence.
- While playing as Biker, the first cutscene prior to the first mission involves beating a man, Scar, wearing this mask.
- Aubrey is also worn by the actor Martin Brown a.k.a Pig Butcher, who personifies Jacket in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number movie Midnight Animal.
- The mask is the tutorial mask for both games, likely a jab at the player.
Trivia[]
- This mask is named after Aubrey Serr, principal artist for Wolfire Games, currently working on Overgrowth.[1]
- Fans also theorize that the mask's name references Pink Floyd's designer Aubrey Powell, whom designed the 1977's album "Animals" with a flying pig on the cover art, all being his idea.
- Aubrey is the mask featured in the Hotline Miami trailer, worn by the Pig Butcher. This is possibly why Jacket's wearing it in the tutorial for Hotline Miami.
